[Food] Chinese Style Beef Stew

I like beef stew with curry or wine, but my favorite one is this Chinese style beef stew, which we have it as a main dish as well as for noddle soup base. It tastes sweet and spicy. Here's the recipe:
Ingredients:
1 pound stew beef (if you can find beef flank will be better); 2 medium size tomato, 1 large onion, 6 carrot.
For the flavor:
6 slices ginger, 4 cloves garlic, 4 dry red pepper, some green onion ( make a knot so you can easily take them out later) , 5 aniseed, 1 spice food package, 2cup chicken broth
For the marinade sauce:
2.5tbs chill bean sauce, 2.5 tbs Chinese soy sauce, 1.5 tbs rice wine,

The spice food package is very helpful for all kinds of Chinese dish, tea egg for example.

Steps:
1. Put the beef in boiled water quickly and marinade it with soy sauce, chill bean sauce, rice wine, for about 15minutes while preparing the vegetables.
2. Heat the pan with 3 tbs oil, fry the onion, green onion, ginger, garlic and red pepper for flavor first, and then put the beef and the marinade sauce, tomato, and carrot, fry a little bit. Add 2 cups chicken broth, spice food package, and aniseed for the stew. Take out the green onion, pepper when the they are burned and cook for about 35-40 minutes.

4. Add crystal sugar as you want and cook another 5 minutes until the sauce is a condense, or you can add a little corn starch. Serve.
